Happy birthday, Auntie Anna

A belated birthday song for one of Emma's favourite people: her Auntie Anna.

Dear Anna
Happy birthday! Sorry we're late in celebrating.
You know you're special because...Emma stopped talking about poo long enough to sing this to you!
With love,
Anna, Caroline and Emma

Here's the official version:

And a rather silly (but very characteristic) outtake that makes Emma giggle every time she sees it :)

Conversation (Anna)

Emma used to be a wonderful, intelligent conversationalist. We would talk about all sorts of things, and she would ask questions and tell stories and be generally lots of fun to talk to.

These days, her conversation has become a little limited, confined mostly to the words "poo and pee".

Mumma: What do you want for your birthday?
Emma: A poo poo t-shirt! (giggle)

Mumma: What did you do at daycare today?
Emma: I poo-pooped on the peepeepony. (giggle) And I pee-pee-poked Lovina.

Emma: I have a Grandma poo poo!
Mumma: Who's Grandma Poo poo?
Emma: Granny Heath! I call her Grandma Poo Poo.

Mumma: What's your favourite food at the moment?
Emma: Poo-poo!

And she's gone back to calling us "Pee pee" and "Poo poo".

I'm thinking of writing a book called "The Amazing Adventures of Pee-Pee and Poo-Poo".

A Joni Mitchell fan

I was driving the other day with E in the back. I was singing under my breath:

"Oh the seasons, they go round and round
And the..."

I got distracted by something on the road, and stopped singing. And from the back seat came a very sweet little voice:

"painted ponies they go up and down.
We're captured on the carousel of time."

I had no idea she knew that song. I must sing it more than I thought.

Things you don't want to hear from your pre-schooler from another room

"Mumma. I broke it."

"Ooop. My pee is coming out!"

"Mumma, my carrots are stuck in the printer."

"Mumma, why did my baby's head come off?"

"Look! I've got the car keys!"

"I was typing on Mummy's computer and then it broked." or "Mumma, help me. I'm carrying Mummy's computer down the stairs and it's too heavy." (crash)

Quote of the day

"Mumma, I don't need to wash my hair tonight. I put my head in a puddle today, and now my hair is clean!"

Penguins (Anna)

We took Emma to her first movie over the break - Happy Feet 2. In a scene with a young penguin getting a cuddle from his parents, Emma pipes up, in a voice loud enough to fill the cinema:

"Does that penguin have two Mums?"
